Fighting spreads across several front lines as floods damage displacement camps
From the start of August, fighting intensified on several front lines, including in Ad Dali’, Al Hodeidah, Ma’rib, Sa’dah and Taiz governorates. By 9 August, about 300 people had been newly displaced in the first week, according to ACAPS, an independent humanitarian analysis organisation (ACAPS).
Seasonal floods added to the strain. Floods in July and August affected 53,760 people across Yemen and damaged or destroyed 3,236 shelters and tents in sites for displaced people (ACAPS).
August marked the start of a wave of displacement. The UN later reported that more than 184,000 people had been forced from their homes since the start of August, most of them after early September (IOM, via UN News).
