Aid reaching Gaza falls by more than a third since January
Less humanitarian aid reached Gaza in early 2026 than in the months straight after the ceasefire. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that aid from the UN and its partners fell from more than 167,600 tonnes in the first three months after the 10 October 2025 ceasefire to under 105,000 tonnes between 11 January and 11 April 2026, a drop of 37%.
OCHA linked the fall to fewer crossing operations, cargo being sent back and scanning problems at Ashdod port.
Health services were also under strain. OCHA reported that heart catheterisation had largely stopped except for life-saving cases, and that more than 70,000 cases of rodent and parasite infestation had been recorded in 2026.
